eTwinning School label application 2026-2027

Are you the next eTwinning School?

Applications are now open for the 2026/2027 eTwinning School label, which recognises schools working together creatively across Europe.

Would you like to join us in building schools where pupils are empowered to shape the future? Applications for the eTwinning School label are officially open until 10 March 2026.

The eTwinning School label is awarded to schools that show dedication, commitment and active participation not only of individual eTwinners, but of the whole school community. In eTwinning Schools, school management and teacher leaders recognise the value of eTwinning and embed its principles into school policies, everyday practices and teachers’ professional development.

These schools follow the eTwinning School mission, focusing on shared leadership, collaboration, teamwork, pupil agency, inclusion and innovation. As a result, eTwinning Schools act as role models, inspiring other schools at local, national and European levels.

Erasmus+ for schools

The European Union’s Erasmus+ programme supports thousands of projects to bring innovation into education and training across Europe.

Which Erasmus+ actions are relevant for schools?

For organisations in the school education field, including early childhood education and care and vocational education and training (VET), the main elements of the programme are:

  • Staff and learner mobility (Key Action 1): This allows teachers and trainers (including student teachers) and other school staff to attend training courses and take part in job shadowing or teaching assignments in another country. Learners can participate in individual mobility activities, group or class exchanges, and learn new skills (in the field of VET).
  • Partnerships for cooperation (Key Action 2): This allows schools to work with other schools and organisations to improve teaching and learning approaches, enhance education quality and make education more relevant. It offers:

There are also other opportunities, for example the Jean Monnet action regarding the European dimension of teaching at school.

For more information, including application deadlines and latest news on funding, please see:

Guidance on Erasmus+ funding

Erasmus quality standards for mobility projects

Organisations implementing mobility activities must adhere to a common set of Erasmus+ quality standards. They comprise basic principles and good management practices and ensure quality standards and support for participants, as well as guidelines for sharing results and knowledge about the programme.

Project partner search

If you are planning mobility activities as a participant or a host, you can browse project partner announcements on the European School Education Platform, and post your own announcement.

Course catalogue

The course catalogue includes onsite and online courses for teacher professional development. The onsite courses are provided by independent course providers and have not been pre-approved or validated by this platform or national authorities.

Self-paced learning materials

Self-paced learning materials offer basic information about the Erasmus+ programme and can be used anytime, anywhere, and at your own pace. The materials are available in English on the EU Academy (EU Login is required):

Erasmus+ National Agencies

The EU works with National Agencies to bring the Erasmus+ programme as close as possible to participants.

The National Agencies are based in the Erasmus+ programme countries and their role involves:

  • providing information on Erasmus+
  • selecting projects to be funded
  • monitoring and evaluating Erasmus+
  • supporting applicants and participants
  • working with other National Agencies and the EU
  • promoting Erasmus+
  • sharing success stories and best practice

Erasmus+ awards and labels

European Innovative Teaching Award

The European Innovative Teaching Award highlights innovative teaching and learning practices, developed as part of Erasmus+ cooperation projects in the fields of school education and initial vocational education. The Erasmus+ National Agencies select the winning projects either through direct selection of awardees, by shortlisting of potential awardees, or by publishing an open call.

Each year, up to four awards per Erasmus+ programme country are given, one in each of the following categories:

  • early childhood education and care
  • primary education
  • secondary education
  • and vocational education and training (VET) schools.

European Language Label

The European Language Label is an award encouraging the development of new techniques and initiatives in the field of language learning and teaching, as well as the enhancement of intercultural awareness across Europe. It is awarded to Erasmus+ funded projects and other initiatives from all fields of education and training.

Erasmus accreditation excellence label

As part of the Erasmus accreditation scheme under Key Action 1, the best performing accredited organisations in the fields of adult education, vocational education and training, and school education are awarded excellence labels for implementing high-quality mobility projects.

As part of the yearly Erasmus+ calls for proposals, excellence labels are awarded to accredited organisations that have achieved an average score of at least 85 points in the evaluation of their last two completed mobility projects. Awarded excellence labels are valid for three years.

New guides to make the most of eTwinning and Erasmus+

Discover three practical guides designed especially for teachers in all eTwinning and Erasmus+ countries. These easy-to-use guides will help you:

  • Design and implement vocational eTwinning projectsGet inspired with concrete examples and step-by-step guidance on how to integrate your vocational subjects (e.g. hospitality, engineering, healthcare, tourism) into international eTwinning projects, building your learners' skills and confidence.
  • Combine eTwinning and Erasmus+ in school education: Learn how to create blended learning mobility projects, in which your Erasmus+ exchanges are prepared and extended through digital collaboration on eTwinning. These blended projects promote better learning, stronger partnerships and more inclusive experiences for all pupils.
  • Blend eTwinning and Erasmus+ in initial vocational education and training: Discover how learners, teachers and schools can benefit from combining physical mobility and digital collaboration. Plan vocational projects that integrate practical skills, real-life tasks and international teamwork before, during and after mobility.

Who can apply for the eTwinning School label?

Eligible schools have received an email and a platform notification inviting them to complete the application form.

OECD webinar: How to effectively tackle bullying

OECD webinar: How to effectively tackle bullying.

Bullying can have a devastating impact on children and their education. For those targeted, it can lead to fear, isolation, declining mental health, loss of confidence and disrupted learning.

In this Q&A webinar, experts will discuss the the findings of a new OECD paper on bullying in education, and look at what works in education settings, including how to respond when cyberbullying blurs the boundaries between school and home and how we can support those most at risk of experiencing repeated or severe bullying.

 Safer Internet Day 2026

Safer Internet Day on 10 February aims to promote a safer and more responsible online environment for children and young people. A flagship initiative of the European Commission, the event brings together schools, parents, policymakers and organisations worldwide to raise awareness about topics including cyberbullying, digital wellbeing, privacy, artificial intelligence and respectful communication.

Find out how your school can get involved and help pupils develop safer online habits and positive digital experiences.

Follow the celebrations on social media using #SaferInternetDay and #SID2026!

Cyberbullying typically affects young people aged 12–17, with around one in four reporting personal experience and more than one in three having witnessed it. Unlike offline bullying, online harm can occur at any time and spread rapidly, causing lasting emotional distress.

Over the past five years, cyberbullying has been the main reason children have contacted Safer Internet Centre helplines.

Watch our interview with Malte Siglev from Save the Children Denmark, where he talks about how schools can tackle cyberbullying and support safer learning and online environments for all learners.

Read about the EU Action Plan against cyberbullying to explore how schools can strengthen prevention, reporting and support.
